History file tips

Placing the history files onto your PC can cause a problem due to a lack of privileges you have in a user account. If you always use your PC as an administrator you will not have any difficulties using LSMC, if not you need to take a little more care.

What happens?

LSMC stores the draw histories in a shared folder, so all users of a PC use the same data. For this reason, it stores these files in such a way that all users can not only read this data, but write it as well.

However if you download the history files and store them with explorer, the files are given a restricted access, so limited accounts are unable to write to the files unless they are the one that was used to store it in the first place.

What to do

Most users find the best thing to do is to overwrite files that LSMC will have created. So start up LSMC at least once prior to copying the history files. Then use the downloaded files to overwrite the files LSMC has created.

NOTE : Make sure LSMC is not open in any user account.

The alternative is to simply create the files in the history file whilst in the user account that you will be using LSMC in.

(Admin users never have these worries.)

Where's the history folder?

The folder can be tricky to find, so LSMC can open the folder for you, by selecting the Game|Open History Folder... menu item. This folder will be something like

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Darwinian Software\LSMC

When working with items in this folder you should close LSMC.
