How to create a syndicate
This is the first job you must undertake with LSMC. Without a syndicate you can't create any gambles (lottery entries), and this is the whole point of the application! So you either select the new syndicate button, or you can use the new syndicate menu item.
This will initiate the new syndicate wizard. You simply fill in the required information on your syndicate and it's members.
The first window you see will require you to enter the syndicate wide details.
You name your syndicate. If your syndicate is the "Bloggs Sales Team Syndicate", only enter "Bloggs Sales Team". The reason is that LSMC adds the word syndicate when needed, so if you include it in your syndicate name it will be duplicated.
Your manager does not need to be a member of the syndicate. This is most likely you, but the point is you can manage a syndicate that you are not a member of.
The membership start number is just the first unique number allocated to each member. Each time you add a new member (either as you create the syndicate or if you add a member at a later date,) they will be given a membership number.
The final text entry is the agreement. You can leave this empty if you want. Leaving this empty makes sense whilst you trial LSMC, and you can add details of the membership agreement at a later date if you feel the need. Alternatively you can write up your agreement in another seperate document.
Clicking "Next >>" takes you to the members details entry. Note that this button will only be enabled if you have entered required details into the form.
Here we are adding John Doe to the syndicate (he is also the manager). As you can see he is automatically given the membership number 10001. The only three required details are the first and surname, and the initial member's credit.
The default Credit amount will be 0, but here it has been edited to £20. Each time you enter a member this will become the new default value for the next member.
If you have valid data the relevant buttons at the bottom will be enabled. "Next Member" adds the member and then allows you to put in the details of your next member. "Finish" adds the member and finishes your syndicate creation. "Cancel" cancels the adding of any more members and finishes the creation of your syndicate. You need at least one member!
Here we see the second member addition after pressing "Next Member". John is already in the manager, and Jane is allocated the membership number 10002.
It should be noted that the details stored for all members may be edited at a later date in the manager. So don't worry about having all of your members' details when you create your syndicate.
Here is a sample syndicate. All you need to do now is save the syndicate and you have completed the job! Use the save syndicate button or CTRL+s or the menu item "File|Save As..." menu item. Note that the file name is the syndicate name!
