Lotto game updates.

This page is for updates to the 'Lotto' game only. If you require a full installation of LSMC (with the latest versions of all of the games and manager) you should go to the download page.

To check the version of the 'Lotto' game you are currently using, you can either right click on the game in the main LSMC window and select the about option from the pop-up menu, or you can select the Help|About menu item in the main window. You only need to note the first two numbers in the game's version number.

Version 1.1 (20 June 2003)

This is the first significant upgrade to the UK Lotto and Lotto Extra game (20th June 2003). The new features are a combination of user requests and features that were put on hold for the first version of the game. Here we list the new features and briefly describe their benefits. There has also been a correction in some of the report generation code that gave text the wrong font heights, and the information when you check single lines has been improved

Line filters

These represent the most significant improvement to the Lotto and Lotto Extra game. The first version of the game produces an excellent spread of numbers for the lines, but filters enable you to select which lines you play, in an effort to improve your winnings. For more info about line filters, how they work, and what they are trying to achieve, see our filters article. You may turn off these filters, either individually or all at once, and we welcome requests for new types of filters. Lotto game v1.1 has 8 filter types, and adding more is not a difficult task. You may filter previous winning lines, number patterns, play-slip patterns, number ranges etc.

Cut/Copy/Paste/Select All

These features have been added to the line lists when you either create a new lotto gamble or when you create a new template. The original request for this feature was to enable lines in plain text format to be pasted into the game. This can enable a quicker entry from your existing lists into LSMC, or enable you to quickly play lines generated from a wheeling application. The paste feature can take lines cut from an Excel worksheet, or text with various separators. You may also select text files when you open or add templates by selecting the *.txt file filter. To enable pasting of lines from gamble reports, the listing of lines in the reports has had a minor tweak. Line filters (if activated) function with these new text file/text-pasting features. For more details see the text conversion restrictions. (To use these features, you should single click the mouse pointer on the 'Lotto only' or 'Play both' list box to give it 'focus', then use the normal CTRL + X/C/V/A.)

Test a draw result

The first release of the game only enables draw results (and hence line checking) to be done on the normal days of Wednesday and Saturday, and at the assumed time of 8pm. This will be fine for most draws, but at Christmas and New Year, draws may be moved to avoid clashes. It would be very frustrating if you couldn't check your entries against the result. Now you may check entries against draw results at any time. First you should display the entry and then you select the 'Test A Result' button. You may check Lotto, Lotto Extra, or both results.
